FIVE STAR REVIEW:DAVID LEE HOSS Is a glimpse behind the veil of the familiar, often silent, problem of abuse and dramatis personae of an adept young lady who was determined to break away from her bondage to discover happiness and fulfillment. “Broken Chains” is a novel that unearths emotional controversy dealing with family, hurt, betrayal, and inner freedom. Writer author Emiliya Ahmadova depicts, in this fictional, tragedy, an exceptional representation through her characters she has managed to portray in this captivating narrative. Emiliya’s provocative novel enveloped my consciousness with several emotional questions. Is liberty a possibility after living a life of fear? Is remaining hopefully passive in the face of violence an option? How can one ever rebuild their self esteem and the feelings of unworthiness and move on? The author, Ms. Ahmadova cleverly illustrates this conflict through an Azeri family, and the tests of cultural norms versus independent thought being at a constant battle, indulged me to validate my own prejudices and conclude that these things happen all over the world and are much more prevalent than I ever anticipated. I really enjoyed the book enough to re-read it twice. Through this depiction of tests of the human spirit, I concluded that separation from negative influences, as explained in Emiliya’s expressions, are the key, Faith is an option and happiness is the result to breaking the chains of bondage. Author Emiliya Ahmadova has definitely earned the reputation as a talented and intriguing author. I would love to see this book as a movie that watcher’s may identify with and come away with more self awareness. A must read fictional account. Reviewed by DAVID LEE HOSS 5 Star Review Reviewed By Ruffina Oserio for Readers' Favorite Caribbean Tears: A Psychological Thriller by Emiliya Ahmadova is a fascinating thriller that explores mature themes and the struggle for freedom of a strong female protagonist. Thirty-five-year-old Sheila has a perfect life in Trinidad, devoted to raising her children, until her policeman husband has the brother of a local gang leader locked up. She becomes the unlucky target in a war against her family, kidnapped and shipped to Venezuela where she is sold into prostitution. Sheila discovers the horrors of a degrading business as the husband of Bernadette, the woman who owns her, makes her life a living hell. Meanwhile, back in Trinidad, a burned body has been identified as hers so her husband is moving on and developing a new relationship with someone else. Is there any hope of escape for Sheila and a possible reunion with her family? Caribbean Tears by Emiliya Ahmadova reflects the reality of human trafficking and the author does a wonderful job in exploring the pain of the protagonist. The story has surprising twists and the rawness in the way some of the scenes are described reflects the grim nature of the theme: prostitution and slavery. I wanted to see what becomes of Sheila as she continues to live each day with the hope of escaping. Her relationship with the other women in the brothel is one that inspires them and brings hope. Caribbean Tears is intelligently plotted and deftly written, a fast-paced, entertaining thriller with a strong message about the power of resilience and hope. 5.0 out of 5 stars Blurring the line between fiction and Reality Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2020 Verified Purchase I purchased this book after bumping into a post the author had put on social media. I Loved the cover so I was drawn in to read about it. I then had to comment and introduce myself because I had just also written my own book on human trafficking, the ironic thing was - hers is fiction, mine is not. It took many weeks before I could find time to read it because life is crazy busy right now, but I finally was able to open it yesterday. I could not put the book down, I pulled an all nighter to finish it as I experienced many emotions. I have read the other reviews and just want to say to the lovely lady who says everyone has a choice and it has nothing to do with a higher power you live it, you would be singing another tune. And to the lady who only mentioned misspellings...if thats what you took away from reading this book you seriously have a comprehension problem or a very shallow mind. So many elements of this book were portrayed in a way that directly embodies things I lived that I had to remind myself that it was actually fiction. Hats off and highest regards to the author! Emiliya, I am honored to have met you and traded stories, literally, and you are an amazing writer! I loved Caribbean Tears and I will be purchasing the paperback to ship to you someday for your autograph, and I have found a new favorite author! I truly hope someday we can work together to blend fiction and nonfiction to co-author from 2 continents to produce a masterpiece. 5 STARS -REVIEW Barbara Rodrigues
There were several occasions that I had to put the book down and regroup because the writing is so real and intense. I enjoyed Broken Chains for so many reasons but mostly because it is going to be very hard to forget. 5 STARS REVIEW Allan Bak This book is an interesting and moving one. 5 STARS REVIEW Jennifer .J Fay The story was really great and I loved reading about Silvana. 5 STARS-Mr. Brian Daniel Harvey The author serves as an admirable and worthy mentor for everyone. 5 STARS REVIEW- Author Jeanette Skirvin BROKEN CHAINS is a textbook course on relationship abuse and should be mandatory reading at the high school level. 5 STARS REVIEW-Dorothy Lafrinere Broken Chains is a compelling and heartfelt story, written with not only the authors heart and soul, but also her need to educate others who may be victims of abuse. In itself this book can be used as a very resourceful hind-site for all victims of abuse. 5 STARS REVIEW LISA BINION If you’ve been a victim of abuse, psychological and/or physical, this book could be painful for you to read, but the hope that it gives should override that. This book shows how to break those chains. This book not only shows those who need it that escape from an abusive spouse is possible even when it doesn’t seem to be, it also acquaints you with different cultures and religious beliefs. |
5 STARS REVIEW-Staub Zu Staub' A few month ago I have translated Broken Chains into Russian language. I must say Broken Chains is a fascinating novel, the primary merits and strengths of Broken Chains are its sincerity and originality. The author is a woman who was raised in a Muslim multinational setting, thereby becoming acquainted with the customs, traditions, and peculiarities of life in different countries and even different continents. In addition, she has had the unique opportunity to communicate with a wide spectrum of people from varying cultural backgrounds and outlooks on life. All this has culminated in her relating in fictional form (throughout riveting pages) her multifaceted life experiences and a wealth of knowledge. In her novel the story line seems so natural, including engaging dialogue. Ahmadova describes her characters so vividly and clearly that readers will not view them as uniform and unipolar. Each elicits sympathy or antipathy in a natural manner. Before encountering the protagonist, readers will learn the dramatic story of her mother's life, followed by that of her grandmother. Such an opening permits readers not only to trace the relationships among generations, but also to assess the influence of parental conduct on the lives of the descendants. Nonetheless, the chain of "hereditary damage" is derailed by the protagonist's faith and hope in God in reaching out for salvation. The main character, Silvana, finds inner strength to change the trajectory of her life and, in turn, transforms the lives of many around her suffering alone and in silence, also feeling shackled and chained down by paralyzing fear and hopeless despair enveloping their human condition. In this way, Silvana becomes a role model for all of them, living proof that fundamental human happiness is in their own hands and can make all the difference, together with not only hard work and an unceasingly and unquestionable faith in God, but also an insatiable desire to make a difference on this earth. |
Amy's Bookshelf Reviews
or an author whose first language is not English, this book is pretty well-written. There are a few stumbles but nothing that cannot be overlooked, as the story is pretty intense. It is a story about generational abuse, and it is as sad and painful as it sounds, but the story is compelling. It also brings out a light that shows there is hope even when the life being led is dismal. A heart breathtakingly inspirational subject that is more true than fiction. |

This is a fantastic collection of short stories. Each one is horrific in its own way.
From demons and the occult to curiosity and hypocrisy, the way one wrong turn can completely
change a life is subtly and chillingly demonstrated. The way you look at things, including dreams, and the way
you think is liable to be changed. Great job, Emiliya Ahmadova.

Ms. Ahmadova has done a terrific job of relating small but very meaningful stories.
Every one of them is a frightening world unto itself, and all of them are very worth
reading.Highly recommended for aficionados of short horror stories.

I really liked this book. It was interesting, and I couldn't wait to find out how it was going to end.

Although the author of this povest' is from Azerbaijan, at its core this tale
(entitled "A Glimpse of the Future") betrays a fascination with spirituality and religion
as an intricate aspect of the Slavic soul, with its focus often on the supernatural,
the occult, and the paranormal.

MY TWIN SISTER AND ME

5 STARS REVIEW-Lazann
It is a wonderful story about twin sisters and the antics they get into. It definitely would appeal to any parent with twins or involved in the scouts. An extra plus is the storyline deals with bullying which is a big social issue at this age.
5 STARS REVIEW-Staub Zu Staub
In each chapter, you can find instructive stories, examples of how a teenager learns to fight with her weaknesses, overcome peer pressure, make the right choice in difficult situations. During reading, you constantly catch yourself thinking that you are experiencing real pleasure, and you want the narrative not to end.
5 STARS REVIEW- Brian D. Harvey
Just under 200 pages in reasonably large font for easy reading, Ahmadova's engaging narrative includes not just an educative peek into the merits of scouting as a worthwhile youth pursuit, but also important lessons in the values of family and faith for a younger generation within a global context

My Twin Sister and Me is about Rafaela and Julieta, twelve-year-old Venezuelan twins who fight most of the time, but they still love each other. Julieta hates her freckles with a passion and would do most anything to get rid of them as they make her the butt of jokes and the object of a lot of teasing at school. But she learns to stand up to bullies when she stands up to someone who is bullying a classmate of hers.
The sisters are Scouts and have been taught to always be honest and truthful. Like all humans though, they don’t always live up to those standards, not even with each other. When a trick is played on Julieta, she is convinced that her twin is behind it, and without investigating to find out whether or not she is right, she takes her revenge.
Julieta and Rafaela’s uncle comes for a visit. Even though he has stage 4 cancer, he is financially better off than their parents. Besides paying for braces for the twins, he has brought something of great value to them: toilet paper.
The plight of those in Venezuela is brought to light in several different ways, but it isn’t dwelt on nor are political statements made. I just want to say that I cannot imagine having to go to many stores and being able just to find two rolls of toilet paper to purchase. In another part of the book, one of the prizes is a roll of toilet paper. Those situations broke my heart.
Parts of the book made me laugh. The names of the girls’ Scout leaders—Baloo, Bagheera, and Raksha—amused me. I love Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, so much so that one of my cats has been blessed with the name Bagheera.
When their Scout troop visited Russia, Julieta and a couple of the other scouts sneaked off the bus because they had to go to the bathroom. When they arrived back to where they left the bus, it was gone. How much trouble will they get in? Julieta being lost in a foreign country brought to mind the time I became separated from my classmates while on a school trip touring the Smithsonian Institution.
Not only are those who read My Twin Sister and Me introduced to Scouting, they also see how the sisters learn to handle bullying, manage their anger, and face their fears.Being able to relate to certain situations in this book made it even more enjoyable for me. I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. If you would like to purchase your own copy of My Twin Sister and Me, I’ve provided an Amazon link for you below.
